Dinesh, Pradeep and Praveen had completed engineering with around 70 percent marks. According to the police, Amazon Seller Services during a verification found around 300 products worth over Rs 15.90 lakh were delivered to customers due to fraudulent acts of the customers and lodged a complaint with Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad.
On investigation, it was revealed that the number of fraudulent transactions crossed 1200 and all the products were delivered at Ameerpet within a radius of two kilometres. Based on the clues and technical evidences and after analysing the contact numbers, delivery address and the duration of the transactions, cops traced the suspects.
“In this process, the accused created nearly 800 fake accounts in Amazon site by giving fake details. Praveen Reddy used to collect the products from the delivery boy. The mobiles received by the accused were sold either on OLX or to different shop keepers where they claimed that they have many friends abroad, who are sending free coupons to them to purchase brand new phones from Amazon,” the police press release said.
Besides more than Rs 10 lakh in cash, the police recovered 556 SIM Cards, 42 Cell phones and 2 laptops. A case was registered and the accused who were nabbed were sent to judicial remand.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner VB Sajjanar said that Dinesh and Pradeep came to the city in search of jobs. In March 2017, they ordered for a pair of shoes through Amazon, but after receiving the product they alleged that the pack was empty and got another product.
Let this be a lesson guys, companies like Flipkart and Amazon have to place the highest value on their customers’ trust in them if they want to survive. If you do anything to mess with that, they’re going to eventually find out you duped them and it won’t end well.
